General Terms and Conditions of Sale
Preamble
These General Terms and Conditions of Sale apply as of right and without limit to all ticket orders placed online through the Collectivité européenne d'Alsace online sales website https://tickets.haut-koenigsbourg.fr – Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg 67600 Orschwiller.
These General Terms and Conditions of Sale may be modified without prior notice.
The purchase of tickets implies acceptance of all these General Terms and Conditions of Sale without reservation.
The client declares that s/he is capable of entering into this contract, i.e. that s/he is of legal age and is not under guardianship or temporary guardianship.
Tickets cannot be issued on-site at the Château’s reception desk. Furthermore, in the absence of presentation of an e-ticket or and M-ticket, clients will be refused access to the site.
Article 1 - Scope and rates
1.1 Tickets may only be purchased by individual visitors and are purchased exclusively online.
1.2 The maximum number of tickets that can be purchased cannot exceed 19 paid tickets per order.
1.3 Groups of over 19 paying individuals or tourist professionals may purchase their tickets at a reduced rate by contacting our reservation and customer relations department, the details of which are provided under Article 11.
1.4 The online sales website https://tickets.haut-koenigsbourg.fr offers admission tickets granting access to the château du Haut-Koenigsbourg for independent guided visits.
1.5 Once the client confirms his/her order, the château du Haut-Koenigsbourg cannot retroactively apply any reductions to the client. In addition, once your ticket has been purchased online, you waive the right to benefit from any reduction or free admission which you may have been able to claim.
1.6 Our rates and special conditions are accessible here.
1.7 Choice of a reduced or free rate must be justified by the client on inspection of the tickets at the entrance to the monument. Should proof not be provided, a supplement corresponding to the difference in price must be paid at the ticket office against receipt.
1.8 Applicable rates are those in force on the date of the order and are in euros net of tax. The château du Haut-Koenigsbourg reserves the right to change the admission fee at any time. Services are invoiced based on the rates in force at the time the order is processed.
1.9 In the event of partial closure of the visit itinerary, works, a reduction in opening times, the rates will remain unchanged. No reductions or refunds will be applied to tickets purchased online.
Article 2 – Availability of tickets on sale
2.1 The château du Haut-Koenigsbourg places a pre-defined number of time-stamped tickets on-sale on its website and reserves the right to increase or reduce the number of tickets on sale. No tickets will be sold on-site.
2.2 Tickets are sold for a visit date and time selected by the client.
Tickets are purchased in real-time. The client is informed of ticket availability on placement of his/her order.
Article 3 – Ordering
All orders, regardless of their origin, are paid in euros.
Clients purchase their tickets online on the page https://tickets.haut-koenigsbourg.fr under the section “purchase a ticket”.
The process to obtain a ticket is described below:
3.2 Create a secure client account or connect to a client account by entering a login and password. This stage can also be completed prior to confirming the order.
Creation of a client account implies communication of information required to process the future order: surname, first name, postal address and email address.
3.3 Select the chosen ticket.
3.4 Choose the desired number of tickets and add to basket.
3.5 Select the desired date of the visit using the calendar and then choose a time based on available time slots.
3.6 Check the order summary displayed. The client may change his/her selection to his/her liking or proceed with the purchase.
3.7 Read and accept the General Terms and Conditions of Sale by ticking the box
“I accept the General Terms and Conditions of Sale”.
Article 4 – Order confirmation
4.1 Definitively confirm the order. This action implies acceptance of the General Terms and Conditions of Sale.
4.2 Proceed with payment by entering bank details and confirming with a final click.
Ticket orders shall be considered final on acceptance of payment by the merchant processing service. Consequently, orders are considered final and cannot be brought into question.
Should the payment centre reject the payment, orders are automatically cancelled.
4.3 Receive the confirmation of order email.
4.4 For all cancellation requests after validation of the transaction, refer to Article 10 below.
Article 5 – Terms of payment
5.1 Tickets are exclusively paid for by the client in euros. The client may choose to pay his/her tickets:
- by bank card. The following cards are accepted: Bank card, E-bank card, Visa Mastercard, JCB
- by ANCV connect from 20 €
- by multiple payment methods (bank card and e-holiday voucher).
5.2 On acceptance of payment by the processing centre, the client will be redirected to a page stating that payment has been made. On this page, the client may download proof of purchase and his/her ticket(s).
Furthermore, proof of the transaction is sent to the email address indicated during placement of the order. This proof includes the number and amount of the transaction and the date, time and reference number of the order.
In accordance with banking regulations in force, a copy of this proof will be kept by the château de Haut-Koenigsbourg for one year.
5.3 Should the banking institution reject the payment, the client will be redirected to a page stating that payment has been rejected. The order is therefore automatically cancelled.
Article 6 – Order confirmation
Ticket orders are only definitely confirmed and binding upon the château du Haut-Koenigsbourg on receipt by the client of an email confirming the order.
We recommend keeping this email which serves as proof of the order. Under no circumstances may this document serve as a ticket and enable access to the monument.
Furthermore, orders and proof of payment are stored on a reliable and irreversible medium so as to ensure an accurate and sustainable copy, in accordance with Article 1348 of the French Civil Code.
Article 7 – Obtaining tickets
7.1 On acceptance of payment of the order, the client will receive an email containing the e-tickets in PDF format as an attachment. Said tickets will also be accessible to the client on the website on his/her client space under the tab “My Orders”.
7.2 The client may either:
- Print his/her e-Ticket on white A4 paper, without changing the print size.
Any partially or badly printed, soiled, damaged or illegible tickets will not be accepted and will be considered non-valid. - Download his/her M-Ticket to a smartphone or tablet. Any partially downloaded, broken or illegible documents will not be accepted and will be considered non-valid.
Given the bad network reception around the Château, we highly recommend downloading M-Tickets prior to your visit to the site.
The Client must print or download all tickets received by e-mail (1 ticket per person).
Under no circumstances may tickets be issued, printed or downloaded by the château du Haut-Koenigsbourg on the day of the visit.
Confirmation of payment or of order are not considered tickets. These documents cannot be used as tickets and enable access to the monument.
Article 8 – Information on tickets
Tickets issued by the château du Haut-Koenigsbourg online sales website contain the following:
- the name and logo of the château du Haut-Koenigsbourg and of the Bas-Rhin Départemental Council
- the name of the purchaser
- the type of rate applied
- the sales price in euros
- the date and time of validity
- the transaction number
- the barcode
Article 9 - Ticket conditions of use
9.1 Any partially or badly printed, damaged or illegible tickets will not be accepted and will be considered non-valid.
9.2 The client must present his/herself to the control officers at the site’s entrance with a previously printed ticket or a ticket displayed on a digital device. All tickets are systematically checked by scanning the barcode.
9.3 Each ticket is time-stamped and is valid only for the date and time indicated. Entry is admitted up to 30 minutes after the time indicated on the ticket. In the event of late arrival after the valid time slot, the ticket is considered to have expired and will no longer enable access to the Château. Said ticket cannot be returned or exchanged.
9.4 Visitors having acquired tickets at preferential rates or free of charge must provide on-site, on the day of the visit, valid proof of their right to a reduction. Should proof not be provided, a supplement corresponding to the difference in price will be invoiced to them against receipt.
9.5 Each ticket is valid for only one entry.
9.6 The first person to present the ticket is presumed to be the legitimate holder of said ticket. Any other person presenting said ticket a second time will be refused access to the site.
Article 10 - Cancellations and refunds
10.1 Tickets cannot be returned, exchanged or refunded except in the case of closure or cancellation by the château du Haut-Koenigsbourg.
10.3 (sic) No change to date or time can be made once payment is confirmed.
10.4 Tickets cannot be sold for more than their face value.
10.5 In the event of cancellation or closure of the monument by the château du Haut‑Koenigsbourg, the ticket paid for by the client shall be refunded, excluding any other compensation or indemnity.
In such case, the interested party must provide a written request detailing the date on which he/she was not able to visit the monument and enclose his/her ticket as well as his/her bank details.
This request must be sent by e-mail to hk.billetterie@alsace.eu within 15 days of the date of the visit. No refunds will be issued on-site.
10.6 Where possible, the château du Haut-Koenigsbourg agrees to communicate any exceptional closures on its website as well as to purchasers by e-mail sent to the address provided when purchasing.
10.7 In accordance with Article L.121-20-4 of the French Consumer Code, the sale of entrance tickets to a museum is assimilated to the provision of leisure services and does not give rise to a cancellation period.

Article 12 - Secure payments
The château du Haut-Koenigsbourg website uses a security system. Data entries and transactions are secured by SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption and 3D Secure.
Clients’ bank details are never communicated through networks in clear text and are therefore protected as only payment approval codes issued by banks are stored.
The château du Haut-Koenigsbourg ensures that the encryption methods and services used to secure transactions have been authorised or declared pursuant to legislation in force.
Article 13 - Personal data
13.1 The information and personal data collected during the online purchase are required for the commercial management of the château du Haut-Koenigsbourg, in order to perform the following operations:
- To process and follow up on your order
- To contact you in the event of closure or cancellation pursuant to Article 10.6
- To enable you to complete any future transactions quicker
- To carry out statistical studies
Personal data are subject to computer processing and are stored in your personal account available on our website and accessible using your login and password provided on registering on our website.
The data recorded are intended for internal use only by the château du Haut-Koenigsbourg and are under no circumstances communicated to external establishments.
13.2 Pursuant to the Act of 6 January 1978 on Information Technology, Data Files and Civil Liberties, you have a right to access, to rectification and to erasure of your personal information. You may therefore demand that information concerning you be rectified, updated or erased.
13.3 To exercise your rights, you may send a written request to the Reservation and Customer Relations Department, whose details are provided in Article 11, by stating your surname, first name and address. You request must be signed and accompanied by proof of identity.
In case of a breach of applicable personal data protection regulations, you have the right to submit a claim to a National Supervisory Authority such as the CNIL (French data protection authority).
13.4 At the time of collection of your personal data, you may accept to receive marketing information and/or newsletters from the château du Haut-Koenigsbourg. To do so, you must tick the corresponding box(es) provided for this purpose on the registration form. If, at a later date, you no longer wish to receive marketing information or the newsletter, you may change your choice at any time in your account under the “My Profile” tab.
13.5 The Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg uses cookies in order to ensure the quality and user-friendliness of its services:
- Session cookies, required for online orders, are destroyed as soon as you leave the site.
- “Persistent” cookies are used to collect anonymous data for statistical purposes.
You can choose to disable cookies by selecting the appropriate settings of your Internet browser. Such a change may change or prevent the operation of some features on the online website.
By using this website, you expressly agree to your personal data being processed according to the aforementioned conditions and purposes.
Article 14 – Liability
14.1 You must check ticket(s) and the confirmation of the online purchase at the time they are delivered or received in your e-mail inbox. You are sole responsible for use of the tickets sold by yourself or by a third party.
14.2 The château du Haut-Koenigsbourg shall not be held liable where the non-performance or improper performance of its obligations under the General Terms and Conditions of Sale is attributable to the unforeseeable or unavoidable actions of a third party or in the event of force majeure.
14.3 Every visitor must comply with the château du Haut-Koenigsbourg’s visitation rules.
14.4 The château du Haut-Koenigsbourg cannot under any circumstances be held liable for the loss, theft or duplication of a ticket.
The first person to present said ticket shall alone be considered the legitimate holder of the ticket and be granted access to the monument. Under no circumstances may a duplicate of the ticket be issued on-site.
14.5 The château du Haut-Koenigsbourg is not able to ensure that no errors will occur during the client’s use of the website. Said website is accessible 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, subject to closure for maintenance, repairs or in case of force majeure.
The château du Haut-Koenigsbourg cannot be held liable in the event of loss of data and loss suffered by the client following a failure to access the website or a failure of the internet network when placing an order.
Furthermore, the château du Haut-Koenigsbourg cannot be held liable for any malfunction arising from a compatibility issue between the methods for issuing the ticket and the client’s computer environment.
14.6 The website as well as all of its components including logos, images and content are the ownership of the château du Haut-Koenigsbourg. Any copies or use for any purpose other than personal and family use must be the subject of a prior request and shall be subject to the château du Haut-Koenigsbourg’s authorisation.
Article 15 - Applicable law and disputes
The sale of tickets referred to in these General Terms and Conditions of Sale is governed by French law. For any claims, you may contact the revenue collection institution hk.billetterie@alsace.eu
The parties will endeavour, where possible, to resolve their dispute amicably; in the absence of an amicable solution, the administrative court shall have sole jurisdiction.
